MEMBER-OWNED COOPERATIVES
Member owned cooperatives provide the foundation of utility service for rural areas and suburbs across the nation. According to Electric Co-op Facts & Figures, published by NRECA in June 2020, Americas Electric Cooperatives provide power to 56% of the nations landmass. In addition to covering over half of the nation, member owned cooperatives, comprised of 834 distribution cooperatives and 63 generation & transmission cooperatives, own and maintain 2.6 million miles of distribution lines providing power to over 20 million homes, businesses, and other customers.

PUBLIC POWER AUTHORITIES
According to the American Public Power Association (APPA), public power utilities across the contiguous 48 United States plus Alaska provide power to approximately 49 million people. Based on information provided by APPA, public power providers are Not for Profit, Locally Owned and Community Controlled while providing electric power to One in Seven Americans. And in doing so, of the electric power provided by these public utilities, 40% of this power was generating from non-carbon emitting sources.

COMPETITIVE TELECOM PROVIDERS
Since the Telecom Act of 1996, consumers and businesses of all types have benefited from competition in the local telephone market in the areas of innovation and lower costs. Far more often than not, these competitive providers are driven by entrepreneurs with a vision and commitment to competition and innovation.
